Kyiv to Discuss How to Transform Support for Democratic Belarus into Practical Partnership with Ukraine
On September 18-19, the socio-political part of the 5th Ostroh Forum will take place in Kyiv. Belarusian and Ukrainian experts, politicians, researchers, media, and civil society representatives will discuss what hinders practical cooperation and what place a democratic Belarus can occupy in the future regional security system.

This year's program of the forum focuses on how Russia's war against Ukraine is changing the region and what place a democratic Belarus and Belarusian communities can occupy in the new security system.
Can the support of Ukraine by Belarusian democratic forces and communities become the basis for a full-fledged partnership between the two countries? Why did the long-awaited meeting between Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Volodymyr Zelenskyy not help solve specific migration, banking, and social problems of Belarusians in Ukraine? What role can Belarusians play in Ukrainian society — and what responsibility do they bear before the country during the war?
Participants will also discuss whether culture can become part of a common opposition to the "Russian world," how to make the voice of anti-war Belarus more audible in Ukraine, and what role Belarusian volunteers can play for Ukraine in the long term — only participants in today's war or part of broader Belarusian-Ukrainian cooperation in the security sphere?
During the forum, the results of new studies on Belarusian-Ukrainian relations will also be presented.
The organizers invite Belarusian independent media to join in covering the event.

The Ostroh Forum is a regular Belarusian-Ukrainian expert platform created to discuss current problems in bilateral relations and develop practical proposals for their resolution. Traditionally, the event takes place in two parts: the political part in Kyiv, and the expert part in Lviv.
The forum unites experts, researchers, representatives of civil society, and political institutions of Belarus and Ukraine. Its work is based on supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of both countries, rejecting Russian aggression and occupation, and supporting the democratic development and European choice of Belarus and Ukraine.

The forum is organized by Belarusian and Ukrainian organizations: Free Belarus Center, Foreign Policy Council "Ukrainian Prism", Ukrainian Catholic University, Institute "Political Sphere", Center "European Dialogue", and Center for European Transformation with the support of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), and the International Renaissance Foundation.
