Gomel Bus Depot Cancelled Recently Introduced Routes to Novozybkov in Bryansk Region
From July 12, Bus Depot No. 1 of the enterprise "Gomeloblavtotrans" is ceasing international bus services on the Gomel — Novozybkov route. This refers to the routes that departed from Gomel on Monday at 6:30 AM and on Sunday at 11:30 AM. This route was opened quite recently — on May 10, 2026, Flagshtok reports .
Officially, the reason for the cancellation of routes was not named. However, it is reported that the bus depot explained that the route was economically unprofitable due to the small number of passengers. Insufficient bus occupancy did not allow the routes to be profitable.
After the cancellation of the Belarusian route, only services operated by private Russian carriers will remain between Gomel and Novozybkov. Some buses go directly to Novozybkov, while others head through this city to Bryansk or Kursk.
Rail connections between Gomel and Novozybkov are also significantly limited. Regional trains no longer run in this direction, and one can only get there by transit trains, with ticket prices approximately twice as high as for buses.
According to ticket sales services data, demand for this route was indeed low, but not entirely absent. For example, a few hours before the departure of one of the buses on July 10, about twenty tickets were sold, while approximately half of the seats remained vacant.
It is worth noting that recently, two incidents involving Belarusian buses occurred in the Bryansk region, which, according to the Russian side, were damaged as a result of drone explosions.
