Stolen Picasso Painting Worth 17 Million Dollars Found in France
In the Paris suburb of Champigny-sur-Marne, police found a painting during a special raid, which, according to preliminary information, belongs to the brush of Pablo Picasso and was previously stolen, ArtNews reports .

According to French media, the work has not yet undergone final identification, but it is believed that the canvas depicts Marie-Thérèse Walter – the artist's lover and muse. The painting belongs to a collector from Singapore and is estimated to be worth approximately 13.7–17.1 million dollars.
The investigation suggests that an employee of one of Paris's art storage facilities may be involved in the theft. The man himself claims he did it allegedly to draw attention to security issues at the facility.
During the operation, French law enforcement officers found not only the painting. Also confiscated were about 18 kilograms of cannabis resin, several thousand euros in cash, and luxury clothing items worth several hundred thousand euros in total.
Four people have been detained in connection with the case. The first court hearing already took place on June 19, and the main trial is preliminarily scheduled for August.
Marie-Thérèse Walter met Pablo Picasso in Paris in 1927 when she was 17 years old. According to memoirs, the artist approached the girl and said: “You have an interesting face. I would like to paint your portrait. I am Picasso.” At that time, he was 45 years old and married. Later, Marie-Thérèse's features became some of the most recognizable images in the artist's work.
