Belarusian woman with international protection in Poland, who lost documents in Malta, told how she managed to return home

It wasn't that simple.

Belarusian Katerina was stranded in Malta after her documents were stolen. She left her bag in a taxi, and by the time she remembered it, it was too late. "Most likely, it was stolen by passengers who got in (the taxi) after us," she shared on social media.

Adding to the complexity was the fact that the girl had a Polish residence permit based on international protection. For almost a week, the girl remained in Malta while looking for a way out.

Now she shared on social media how she managed to return to Poland.

"The Polish embassy suggested returning to Poland via Sicily. This was risky, and we were looking for another option."

The girl contacted Malta's state migration agency. The problem was that it was important for the agency that the embassy of her country of citizenship (meaning Belarusian) confirm the girl's identity and send a request for the issuance of a temporary document.

Katerina convinced the Maltese agency to accept a request from the Polish embassy, and then pleaded with the Polish embassy to sign and send the necessary documents.

On Wednesday, the girl finally returned to Poland.

But it wasn't without adventure. A thunderstorm began on approach to Warsaw, and the plane did not immediately land at the airport.

Люди, которым реально нужна оборона, не шляются где попало, а сидят под обороной страны, которая ее предоставила.
