He was arrested together with his brother Tamaz, who was released half a month earlier. Their mother did not live to see her sons.

Timur Pipiya has fully served his sentence and was released on May 28, 2026, according to the Human Rights Center "Viasna".
The football fan of the former Minsk club "MTZ-RIPA" was detained on September 25, 2020, in Minsk, while waiting for a colleague to go to work. The man was accused under several criminal articles, including participation in mass riots and violence against police officers during the events of August 10 and protests after Alexander Lukashenka's secret inauguration.
In July 2021, Judge Sviatlana Bandarenka of the Maskoŭski District Court of Minsk sentenced Timur Pipiya to 6 years, 3 months, and 2 days in a reinforced-regime penal colony. He served his term in correctional colony No. 15, where he faced harsh conditions of detention. Human rights activists noted that for a year he was never allowed to meet with relatives and even his lawyer was not permitted to visit him.
Timur's own brother, 31-year-old Tamaz Pipiya, was also involved in the same criminal case. As we reported earlier, Tamaz was detained in Grodno and initially sentenced to 5 years of reinforced regime. However, during his imprisonment, he was given another year and a half in the colony for "malicious disobedience to the administration" under Article 411 of the Criminal Code. Tamaz was released in mid-May, just a few weeks ahead of his brother.
While the brothers were behind bars, a tragedy occurred in their family — their mother died of an oncological disease. Their younger sister Luiza, who was only 18 years old at the time of her brothers' arrest, became the main defender of the political prisoners at liberty.
The girl was not afraid to speak publicly in defense of her relatives, gave interviews and wrote appeals, despite constant pressure and threats from the special services.
