Tsikhanouskaya delivered a letter to Patriarch Bartholomew, who arrived in Lithuania
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya expressed gratitude for the creation of the Belarusian parish of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Vilnius and emphasized that the church holds special significance for Belarusians forced to live in exile. This was reported to 'Belsat' by Tsikhanouskaya's advisor on diplomatic affairs, Dzianis Kuchynski, who also presented the Ecumenical Patriarch with a gift from the leader of the democratic forces.

"The sash was embroidered specifically for this meeting"
Dzianis Kuchynski called the meeting with Patriarch Bartholomew a great honor. According to him, this visit became an important symbol of support for Belarusian Orthodox believers of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and for the Belarusian community in Vilnius.
In his opinion, the meeting will help Belarusian believers feel more confident, as they have their own parish and a new community. He also added that from conversations with believers he sees: it is truly a vibrant and cohesive community.
The Patriarch was presented with a Slutsk sash — one of the symbols of Belarus, its history, and the heritage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
"The Slutsk sash is a separate interesting story. It's from Warsaw, it was brought tonight. This is the work of a master who makes such sashes in Warsaw. The sash was embroidered specifically for this meeting: in gold, especially for this event," says Kuchynski.
On June 6, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived in Vilnius for a two-day visit, during which he met with the local Orthodox community under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, including representatives of the Belarusian parish.
