Spain to play World Cup for the first time without Real Madrid players
The Spanish national team has announced its squad for the FIFA World Cup, which starts in two weeks in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. There is not a single player from Real Madrid in the squad.

The last time players from the Madrid club were not called up to the national team for a major tournament was in 2021 for the European Championship. However, club players have been part of the national team squad at all World Cups.
Spain's final squad includes 26 footballers.
Goalkeepers: Unai Simón (Athletic), David Raya (Arsenal), Joan García (Barcelona);
Defenders: Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), Alex Grimaldo (Bayer), Aymeric Laporte (Athletic), Pau Cubarsí, Eric García (both — Barcelona), Marcos Llorente, Marc Pubill (both — Atlético), Pedro Porro (Tottenham);
Midfielders: Pedri, Gavi (both — Barcelona), Fabián Ruiz (PSG), Martín Zubimendi, Mikel Merino (both — Arsenal), Rodri (Manchester City), Álex Baena (Atlético);
Forwards: Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Nico Williams (Athletic), Yeremy Pino (Crystal Palace), Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal (all — Barcelona), Borja Iglesias (Celta), Víctor Muñoz (Osasuna).
The Spaniards will start the tournament on June 15 with a match against Cape Verde, followed by games against Saudi Arabia (June 21) and Uruguay (June 27).
