Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated on Sunday his readiness to become a representative of Europeans in potential peace talks with Russia, writes "Ukrayinska Pravda".
“If I am asked (about readiness to become a negotiator), then that is probably a question that cannot be answered negatively.”
At the same time, Alexander Stubb emphasized that he is ready to conduct such negotiations only after Russia agrees to a ceasefire.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in May that Europe should have its own representative in peace talks with Russia. The Finnish president noted that he is ready to fulfill such a role if asked.
Earlier, media reported that the European Union is considering the candidacies of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, and Alexander Stubb for the role of EU negotiator.
