The previous record was set in 2019. Then, 223 people reached the summit of Everest in one day.
Mount Everest, with a height of 8849 m, is located on the border of Nepal and China. This climbing season, ascents are only taking place from the Nepali side, as Chinese authorities have not issued permits for climbing via Tibet.
In 2026, Nepal issued 494 permits to climb Everest, each costing 15 thousand dollars.
