Three days ago, trains were seriously delayed on the section between Minsk and Baranavichy. Now it's known why
On May 6, 2026, serious delays of passenger trains occurred on the railway section between Haradzieja and Stoŭbcy. Among the delayed trains were Brest — St. Petersburg and Hrodna — Viciebsk. The "Community of Belarusian Railway Workers" found out what caused this unusual situation.

Belarusian Railways officially explained the incident as a "temporary speed restriction," due to which several trains arrived significantly late — by approximately up to one and a half hours.

It later emerged that the cause of the movement restriction might have been a technical situation related to checking the condition of the railway track.
According to the technical version, after one of the trains passed, possible malfunctions of the wheelsets were detected — so-called "flat spots" (flattened areas on wheels that occur when they lock during movement). Such defects can cause impacts on the rails and create a risk of damage to infrastructure and danger to other trains.

That is why a speed restriction and track inspection were introduced on the section. In such cases, this is a standard safety measure that helps avoid more serious accidents.
After the incident, an additional inspection was carried out on both the railway and the rolling stock itself. However, the exact causes of the malfunction were not officially announced.
