Belarusian Woman Announced Search for a Female Partner for a "Boston Marriage". She Was Supported

One Belarusian Threads user described a difficult life situation she found herself in and asked if anyone would like to live with her in a "Boston marriage". The proposal sparked a lively discussion, noted the "MogilevOnline" publication.

"My situation: 30 years old, have a child (starting school this year). I'm getting divorced. I also want to change jobs, looking for a new one (before this, I worked for myself, but now I don't have the resources for my specialty). If you are looking for a similar option, please write in private messages," wrote the Belarusian woman.

Unexpectedly, this discussion thread went viral, gathering over 200 comments and almost 1,500 likes in a few days, becoming a testament to true female solidarity.

In the comments, some Belarusian women admitted they had experience with "Boston marriage" and even called it "the best years of their lives," others stated they were already in one, and a third group said they were also ready to consider living together with another woman to manage household chores, raise children, share expenses, and simply support each other without any romantic undertones.

"Just yesterday I was talking about this with an acquaintance..." one Belarusian woman admitted.

"Why do I want to get involved in this?)) Sasha, 30 years old, has a daughter - 6th grade," wrote another girl.

"Women, I adore you. For many years I've been saying that it's easier and more comfortable for two women with similar views to get along," another comment under the post read.

The term "Boston marriage" originated in the late 19th century in American New England. At that time, educated and independent women began to live together to preserve their freedom and professions, without reducing their lives to marriage.

The expression itself was solidified after Henry James' novel "The Bostonians" (1886), and today it is experiencing a second life. It refers to two women living together without romance — for the sake of household management, expenses, and mutual support.
