A large forest fire is raging in Chernobyl. The wind is blowing towards Belarus, today it's worth being cautious
A giant forest fire is raging in the Chernobyl zone. Fighting the fire is complicated by mines left by the Russians in 2022. Today the wind is southerly, so radionuclides along with smoke are flying towards the Gomel region.

The fire has covered more than a thousand hectares of contaminated forest. It is spreading rapidly due to strong winds. Extinguishing such a fire in the exclusion zone is quite difficult. The situation is complicated by dry weather, as well as mines left by the Russians in 2022.

The Ministry of Forestry of Belarus stated that the fire has not yet crossed the border with Belarus. It is currently seven kilometers from the border. According to officials, there is no threat yet. But the problem is not only the fire, but also the radionuclides themselves, which cannot be seen by the eye.
Be careful, try not to open windows and spend less time outdoors until the wind changes direction. And according to the forecast, this will only happen tomorrow.
