38-year-old goalkeeper fainted when he learned he was called up to the Brazilian national team
Grêmio's Brazilian goalkeeper Weverton learned about his call-up to the national team for the World Cup surrounded by family and friends.

After head coach Carlo Ancelotti named him, he began jumping for joy, but a few seconds later, he fainted.
“Honestly, I don’t even know what happened. I rewatched the video several times and thank God he saved me. What should have been a joyful moment could have turned into a tragedy,” Weverton told G1.
Due to the commotion, no one initially even realized what had happened and didn't rush to help. After some time, he regained consciousness on his own.
This will be Weverton's second World Cup. In 2022, he played 10 minutes in the Round of 16 against South Korea.
At this championship, he will likely be the third-choice goalkeeper behind Alisson and Ederson.
