And here's the question: is it normal for a Belarusian politician to give their first interviews not to Belarusians, but to Germans and a Russian?
Dud's choice as the first is a relic of colonial thinking. Mikalai Buhai reflects.

Maria Kalesnikava gave a big video interview to Russian blogger Yuri Dud. I respect Dud. Not only for his conversations with Russian figures, but also for his Belarusian content. He made a brilliant film, composed of interviews with Belarusians, good conversations with Belarusians like Putsila, Komissarenko, and Usovich. This interview is also normal. Dud didn't go into depth because he works with "good Russians" in mind, whose knowledge of Belarus isn't that deep. "Can prisoners in Belarus order food to their cell? Sushi, and all that...?"
For Belarusians, there's nothing particularly new in the interview; for Russians, it's useful to listen.
Before that, Kalesnikava gave an interview to "Deutsche Welle". To Germans - one can still understand, because they sheltered her.
But she hasn't yet appeared on "Tok", or "ChestNok", or "Zvyčany Ranku", or "We Will Return", "Peratrom" — and there are many Belarusian platforms, not just these.
Masha, you are ours. "Good Russians" — as the target audience? To what end? Playing on foreign fields is politically meaningless.
Should one go to Dud? One should, absolutely, of course! But after one's own. It won't go bad.
For me, choosing Dud first is a relic of colonial thinking. I cannot imagine a Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Polish, or Finnish politician giving their initial interviews not to national media, but to Russian media. Unpatriotism is a stigma and a verdict for any politician. For me, Kalesnikava's choice of Dud is unpatriotic.
