“Purple” Bread is Now Sold in Minsk. Is it Really Purple and What Does it Taste Like?

This bread is sold at "Green" in "Kamennaya Gorka". 300 grams of the sliced product costs 2.15 rubles – not the lowest price, especially compared to other similar products, writes "Minskaya Pravda".

The publication's journalist bought this bread and decided to test it on her family.

In fact, it's not purple, but made from purple wheat.

The bread's ingredients are as follows: wheat grain, gluten, flour, water, oat flakes, sunflower oil, salt. Sugar is in the last place. The bread's shelf life is only 48 hours. This is a clear sign that preservatives are absent.

The child ate the first slice without hesitation, noted the journalist. She asked for a second one with butter and cheese.

— The crumb is really, really soft, airy. It's tasty, but I liked it more with butter and cheese, — her daughter shared her impressions.

Her husband noticed that the bread was warm. Not hot, fresh from the oven — but warm.

— Sometimes you buy bread, and it seems like it was stored in a damp room: the crumb is moist, and the crust is raw. But this one, it's like it's not from the store. Good, tasty bread.

There's no point in dragging it out anymore: I show the packaging and explain what product is on our table today. A momentary pause and a logical question:

— But why isn't it purple then?

There's no answer.

It can be eaten with butter and cheese, as well as with jam, if one likes it. Yes, a slight sourness is felt in the pleasant aftertaste. But it doesn't spoil the impression — rather, it adds piquancy, making the taste more voluminous.

The only thing is, you shouldn't look for it on the shelves by color — the bread is of a regular wheat shade. Perhaps the packaging gives a slight hint that the product is not entirely standard.

Не знают истории хлеба журналисты. Крестьяне пекли хлеб в печи раз в неделю, без консервантов, и он сохранялся не "до 48 часов - знак качества" а более 5 дней.
