Population of Ukraine decreased to 28.5 million people — demographer
The main reason for the further reduction in population is the emigration of Ukrainians abroad.

The population of Ukraine has decreased to 28.5 million people. This is 500 thousand less than the previously announced estimate of 29 million.
New calculations by the Institute of Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were publicly announced for the first time by the director of the institution, Ella Libanova, reports RBC-Ukraine.
The main reason for the population decline is the emigration of Ukrainians abroad.
It is believed that at the beginning of 2022, Ukraine, including the Russian-occupied DNR, LNR, and Crimea, had a population of 42-43 million people; without them, it was 41 million. The main exodus occurred in the first months of 2022.
