Cyclone "Bernadette" will begin to weaken in the coming day and move to the western regions of Belarus. This was announced at a press conference by Marina Gritskevich, head of the meteorological forecasts service at Belhydromet.

According to the specialist, the cyclone that arrived in Belarus on July 7 brought thunderstorms, locally heavy rains, and gusty winds up to 17 m/s. By the end of the week, however, it will lose its activity, so precipitation will become short-lived, and wind speed will not exceed 14 m/s.
Marina Gritskevich noted that for Belarus, located in moderate latitudes, sharp weather changes are a common phenomenon and are not considered anomalous.
Belhydromet also explained that the climatic phenomenon El Niño does not have a direct impact on the weather in Belarus. According to Olga Baklanova, head of the Climate Change Study Department, the main impact of El Niño is felt in the Pacific Ocean region and on the west coast of America. At the same time, this phenomenon increases the overall warming of Earth's climate system and amplifies weather fluctuations worldwide.
