Belarusian Minister of Defense Viktor Khrenin stated that the Belarusian army does not plan to abandon the use of tanks. He announced this during the ceremony of handing over modernized T-72BM2 tanks to the 11th Independent Guards Mechanized Brigade.

According to Viktor Khrenin, the modernized tanks have reliable crew protection, high maneuverability, and significant firepower. He noted that such equipment still remains an effective means of conducting combat operations, which is why Belarus is betting not on abandoning tanks, but on their improvement.
Khrenin also emphasized that modern engineering solutions from the Belarusian defense-industrial complex were used in the modernization of the T-72BM2.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the modernization allowed to increase the tank's protection level against modern means of destruction, as well as to improve its firepower and tactical-technical characteristics.
