Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Uladzimir Karanik advised Belarusians to use the metro and went among the people.

"Forget about traffic jams and choose the metro. It's not only the fastest way to get to your destination, but also a comfortable, safe, and budget-friendly option," wrote Uladzimir Karanik, head of the Academy of Sciences, and published a selfie from the subway.
Karanik added that he decided to use public transport after the end of his working day.
Such an immersion among the people provoked a rather ironic reaction.
"I take it as an adventure, to tickle the nerves?"
"Just don't make a feat out of it."
Some commentators decided to find a rational explanation for the act.
"Is it because the bridge on the avenue is under repair?"
"The bridge over Svislach is blocked. A personal driver won't help you get through quickly there."
"Is all the petrol running out?"
"Are you preparing us for something?"
"Next, behind the counter of 'Tsentralny'?"
"Well done! People who are close to the people evoke respect. Not like one citizen," one of the commentators painfully jabbed at the official.
