We looked at how much a Belarusian needs to prepare if they want to make sure they are raising their own child.

DNA tests in Belarus are performed by both state institutions and private ones.
For example, in the private Molecular Genetic Center "DTL", the most budget-friendly option costs 249 Belarusian rubles – this is provided that the result will take three days to receive. For an additional participant (for example, if there are two paternity candidates), an extra 149 rubles will have to be paid.

And the same amount again if the sample for the DNA test is non-standard. Only a buccal swab (when a cotton swab is rubbed on the inside of the cheek) is considered standard. All others are non-standard. There are various options: from hair and nails to earwax and chewed gum.
An express test will be done for 500 rubles (results are promised in 8 hours).
If the test is done for court, it will cost 400 rubles. By the way, a paternity test can also be done during pregnancy — this costs almost 2400 rubles. Results are promised in 10-15 days.
It is reported that two different groups of experts work on the tests in parallel to avoid possible errors.
The Genetic Diagnostic Center "Apyright" performs DNA paternity tests for 335 rubles (results are promised in 3-8 business days).
Regarding non-standard samples for DNA tests, you can bring hair (3-5 strands, with bulbs) or nails (3-5 pieces). In this case, the service will cost 530 rubles.

For a DNA examination for court, they ask for 695 rubles (and it is done within 8-14 business days after receiving the samples).
Prenatal paternity determination is fundamentally not performed here (and people are not advised to seek such a service at all). The website states: there is a high probability that the result will be erroneous.
Therefore, it is better to wait for the child to be born, so as not to waste money on an expensive test that might be false.
The advantages of private laboratories are that they allow you to perform a test without informing the other party — and, probably, to avoid conflict in the couple.
DNA tests are also performed by the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Comparing two samples here costs 309 rubles. Each additional sample is an extra 150 rubles. Results will be available no later than seven business days.

Another option to check kinship in a state institution is the State Forensic Examination Committee. However, here you won't be able to do the test quietly without publicizing the details — all documents will need to be provided.

Here, blood samples (saliva, cell scrapes) will be compared.
The rates are as follows: DNA test by court decision for three people (mother, child, alleged father) — 836 rubles 57 kopecks; at the personal request of a citizen of Belarus for three people — 865 rubles 21 kopecks; foreign citizens for three people — 1266 rubles 20 kopecks.
If the child is an adult, the test can be done for only two people — this will cost 722 rubles 17 kopecks.
For comparison, we looked at how much DNA tests cost in Belarus's neighboring countries. For example, in Russia, the same Molecular Genetic Center "DTL" charges from 5,000 Russian rubles (approximately 190 Belarusian rubles) for a "for oneself" analysis.
In Poland, a DNA test can be done from 700 zlotys (approximately 535 rubles). In Lithuania, the cheapest test (if a person collects the biomaterial sample themselves and sends it to the laboratory) costs 169 euros (approximately 555 rubles).
