The Investigative Committee reported the solving of a newborn infanticide that occurred in Zhlobin in 2003. The investigation of the criminal case was resumed after new evidence emerged.

On February 28, 2003, a woman found a bag with the body of a newborn boy in a rubbish container near a house on Urytskaga Street and reported it to the police.
A forensic medical examination established that the child was full-term, and the cause of death was a blunt force head trauma. At that time, however, law enforcement officers were unable to identify the mother.
Later, experts obtained genetic profiles of the infant and the presumed mother, which were entered into an automated DNA database.
In April 2026, forensic experts found a match between the child's genotype and the genetic markers of a 25-year-old native of the Rahachow district. Further examination confirmed that the man's mother, now 53 years old, is the biological mother of the murdered infant.
The woman was recognized as a suspect in the murder of a knowingly minor. According to the Investigative Committee, she is cooperating with the investigation and has admitted guilt.
According to the woman's testimony, the pregnancy was unwanted, so she did not register for medical care and concealed her condition. After a self-delivery in her home village, the woman killed the child and then transported its body to Zhlobin to conceal traces of the crime.
