Poland issued over 12,000 residence permits to Belarusians in five months
As of June 1, a total of 135,876 citizens of Belarus held documents allowing them to stay in Poland.

Poland issued more than 12,000 residence permits to citizens of Belarus in January-May of this year. This is evidenced by fresh statistics from the Office for Foreigners in Poland, Reform.news writes.
This year, 10,134 people received temporary residence permits in Poland, 1,599 — permanent residence permits, and 380 people — EU long-term resident status.
During the same period, Belarusians were issued 1,374 refusals for residence permits, and 598 cases were closed without a decision.
66% of temporary residence permits were issued based on employment, 24% — family reunification, 3% — study, 7% — other grounds.
This year, 23,280 citizens of Belarus applied for residence permits in Poland.
In May of this year, the Office for Foreigners issued decisions on granting international protection to 86 citizens of Belarus, including refugee status for 72 and subsidiary protection for 14.
17 citizens of Belarus were denied protection in May, and the same number of cases were closed.
In total, since the beginning of the year, 217 citizens of Belarus have received refugee status, 368 have been granted subsidiary protection. 31 people were denied international protection, and 96 cases were closed.
In May, citizens of Belarus submitted 120 applications for international protection concerning 148 individuals. Since the beginning of the year, the Office has received 623 applications from Belarusians concerning 766 individuals. Additionally, applications were resubmitted for 24 individuals, and case reviews were resumed for 26.
According to the Office's data, it continues to review applications for international protection from 2,908 citizens of Belarus at the first instance. Cases of 116 citizens of Belarus are at the second instance.
Overall, the Office is reviewing 7.8 thousand applications for international protection. Their number is decreasing: the number of decisions made exceeds the number of new applications. The average processing time for an application is 277 days.
As of June 1, a total of 135,876 citizens of Belarus held documents allowing them to stay in Poland (1,840 fewer compared to May 1), including:
80,768 held temporary residence permits,
- 41,294 — permanent residence permits,
- 9,930 — subsidiary protection,
- 2,412 — EU long-term resident status,
- 1,085 — refugee status,
- 212 — temporary protection,
- 175 — other grounds.
This year, over five months, Belarusians received 2,737 travel documents in Poland. Such documents can be obtained in a simplified procedure by citizens of Belarus whose passports have expired but who cannot obtain a new one in their homeland.
Belarusians remain the primary recipients of such documents. In total, since 2020, Poland has issued over 11,000 travel documents to citizens of Belarus. For comparison, citizens of other countries received only 1,647 such documents during this period.
