In Gomel, a pensioner kept a 1895 model revolver for half a century. His son reported him
In Gomel, a 72-year-old man had been keeping a "Nagant" system revolver and cartridges for it at home for more than half a century. His son informed the police about the weapon's presence, writes the publication "Belka".

The pensioner, a native of Ukraine, told investigators that he found the revolver in the Chernihiv region more than 50 years ago and brought it to Gomel. All this time, the weapon lay in his house, and he never used it.
During the check, it was found that the man led a law-abiding lifestyle and had not committed serious offenses before, apart from traffic rule violations.
The examination showed that the revolver itself was made based on the 1895 model, and the frame cover dates back to 1944. It is assumed that this weapon could have been used during the Second World War. In addition to the revolver, 16 factory cartridges and one homemade one were found with him.
When police officers came to the man, he handed over the weapon to them without resistance and believed he had done so voluntarily. However, since he had not previously reported its presence to the security forces himself, the pensioner went to court.
The court found the Gomel resident guilty of illegal storage of firearms and sentenced him to one and a half years of freedom restriction without being sent to an open-type institution ("home chemistry" - likely referring to house arrest or similar non-custodial restriction).
