Viktor Orbán Re-elected as Head of Fidesz Party

Former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who held this position for 16 years until May 2026, has been re-elected as head of the Fidesz party, despite the crushing defeat of this political force in the parliamentary elections in April, writes "European Pravda".

At the party congress in Budapest, 729 delegates voted for Orbán, with eight abstentions. After the results were announced, he thanked his fellow party members for their trust.

In his speech, Orbán admitted that he bears strategic responsibility for the electoral defeat. At the same time, he stated that he does not intend to abandon political activity and plans to help the party recover and renew in the coming months.

He also noted that he wants to hand over Fidesz to a younger generation as a political force capable of fighting for electoral victory again. Orbán emphasized that he does not plan to radically change his views or make political compromises that contradict his convictions.

Earlier, information appeared in the media that individual representatives of the American political establishment, associated with the MAGA movement, considered the possibility of Orbán's employment in international structures, including the UN, in the event of possible legal problems at home. Journalists also reported on allegedly possible plans for Orbán to seek asylum abroad, but there was no official confirmation of this.
