John Healey has resigned. He announced this on the social network X, publishing a letter addressed to the country's Prime Minister.

"You know what defence needs. You made a compelling case for it in your speech at the Munich Security Conference in February. Without a DIP ('Defence Investment Plan') that meets the demands of the time, I am forced to make decisions that will reduce the combat readiness of our forces, increase risk to personnel during operations, and could make the country less secure," the letter states.
