Russian President's aide Yuri Ushakov announced that Vladimir Putin will hold a "friendly dinner" with Alexander Lukashenka on the evening of May 8. During it, the parties are expected to discuss prospects for the development of bilateral relations, as well as international and regional issues.

Ushakov stated that Lukashenka and Putin agreed to hold a meeting on May 8 during a telephone conversation, and Putin, he said, is always happy to welcome the guest from Minsk:
"They decided that it's a good moment to hold, to celebrate this date together, and at the same time talk about pressing matters that have accumulated. We are always happy to welcome Alexander Grigoryevich, he is a frequent guest with us."
Earlier, the same Ushakov reported that this year, for the May 9 celebration in Moscow, apart from Lukashenka, only three leaders of internationally recognized states will arrive: President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, Supreme Ruler of Malaysia Ibrahim Ismail, and Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.
