Fico announced undermining of trust in Ukraine

Trust between Slovakia and Ukraine has been undermined, stated Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, expressing doubt that the 'Druzhba' oil pipeline 'will ever be restored'.

"I wouldn't be surprised if the €90 billion credit was unblocked, and then oil supplies would stop again," he said. His words are reported by Denník N.

Fico emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the situation around the 'Druzhba' oil pipeline.

Supplies of Russian oil via the 'Druzhba' pipeline through Ukrainian territory stopped in January 2026. Slovakia and Hungary had previously declared risks to energy supply and accused Kyiv of delaying the resolution of the issue.

On April 22, during the day, AFP agency, citing a Kyiv official, reported that Ukraine, at the request of the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL, would resume pipeline supplies within a few hours. The Ukrainian operator of the 'Druzhba' oil pipeline, PJSC 'Ukrtransnafta', announced its readiness to resume oil transit from Russia to Hungary and Slovakia.
