A very rare and large ruby was recently discovered in Myanmar's Mogok region, Mandalay Division. The country's state authorities reported the find.

According to representatives of Myanmar's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, the discovered ruby weighs 2200 grams, or approximately 11,000 carats. Experts note that this is an exceptionally large and rare stone, difficult to find in nature.
The ruby has a reddish-purple color with a yellowish tint and is considered valuable due to its high color quality. It is also reported that the stone possesses good transparency and a bright vitreous luster. It is specifically emphasized that the ruby remained in its natural state and did not undergo artificial processing or enhancement.

Myanmar authorities recalled that the Mogok region has long been known as one of the world's main centers for ruby mining. Other unique precious stones were also found here previously. In 1990, a ruby weighing 496.25 carats (99.25 grams) was discovered, in 1996 — a truly gigantic stone weighing 21,450 carats (4,290 grams), and in 2022 — a ruby weighing 2789.25 carats (557.85 grams).
Although the 1996 ruby remains the largest by weight, the new stone is considered more valuable due to its superior color and quality characteristics.
All these rare rubies were found specifically in the Mogok region, which is considered one of the world's richest gem deposits.
