According to a statement by the General Prosecutor's Office, the Supreme Court recognized the European Humanities University as an extremist organization.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, "the university conducts targeted work to destabilize the socio-political situation in the country," and is also "used by special services of some neighboring states to harm the interests of Belarus in the political, humanitarian, and information spheres."
EHU was founded as a private university in 1992 in Minsk, closed by the authorities in 2002, and resumed its activities in 2004 in Vilnius.
EHU has about 1500 students enrolled in several faculties and employs about 100 lecturers.
In August, EHU's social networks were recognized as extremist materials.
