The EU introduced a record number of new sanctions against Russian companies linked to the invasion of Ukraine
The foreign ministers of the European Union countries approved almost 1600 new sanctioned entities, primarily related to the Russian military-industrial complex.

According to the head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas, more than half of the new individuals and entities are linked to ballistic missile production chains. This is the largest simultaneous expansion of the EU's sanctions list since the start of the full-scale war, writes Bild.
The list also includes 77 Russian politicians involved, according to the EU's assessment, in holding elections to the State Duma in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
For individuals, sanctions usually mean asset freezes and a ban on entry into the EU; for organizations, they mean asset freezes and a ban on providing them with funds.
At the same time, the European Union intends to allocate additional funds to Ukraine this week for the purchase of drones and missiles to strengthen air defense. After a conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated: "The war has entered a new, even darker phase. Russia is stalling on the battlefield and striking civilians far behind the front line."
