"For one project, some were rewarded, but I was deprived of benefits." BSUIR applicant complained about the Ministry of Education's decision

A graduate of the National Children's Technopark claims that he was deprived of the right to preferential admission to BSUIR, despite a successful scientific project.

Matvey Lysenka, a graduate of the National Children's Technopark, appealed to the public after, according to him, he did not receive a recommendation for preferential admission to the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR). He shared his story on TikTok, noted BGmedia.

The guy claims that he was a participant in a scientific project at the technopark, made a significant contribution to its development, but as a result did not receive a recommendation from the Supervisory Board, which allows admission without entrance examinations.

The project received recognition, but not everyone received a recommendation

According to Matvey, during his studies at the National Children's Technopark, his team worked on the project "Mobile diagnostic robot-assistant for monitoring the condition of potentially dangerous objects in production".

"I made a decent and significant contribution to this development, was responsible for the technical and software parts. Based on the results of the work, scientific articles were published in conference proceedings, an explanatory note and a presentation were prepared," claims the graduate.

He notes that the project received a positive evaluation and was presented at the official exhibition of the National Children's Technopark.

"On May 12, 2026, at the official exhibition of the NCTP for the members of the Supervisory Board, I personally successfully presented and defended our development before the commission," the guy recounts.

At the same time, according to him, one of the participants of the same team received a recommendation a year earlier and was admitted to the university without entrance exams.

What the Ministry of Education replied

After being refused a recommendation, Matvey appealed to state bodies and personally to the Minister of Education.

As the graduate claims, in a reply signed by the Deputy Minister of Education, he was informed that the reason for the refusal was remarks regarding the project defense.

In particular, it was stated that during the presentation "methodological characteristics were not formulated clearly enough", and also that "the logic of the report's construction was not sufficiently substantiated".

The guy was also informed that a review of the Supervisory Board's decision is not provided for by current regulatory acts.

"Some were rewarded, while another was left without benefits"

It was this explanation that caused the graduate the greatest indignation.

In his opinion, a contradiction arises: if the project really had such significant shortcomings, why other team members had already been rewarded for it earlier.

"If the project had such critical methodological shortcomings, then on what basis did the Supervisory Board already issue benefits for it to two other participants?" the guy asks.

He also points out that his teachers highly evaluated his work.

"How can general remarks about a group project serve as a reason for a personal refusal specifically to me, when my teachers wrote me excellent recommendations, and my average grade and diploma portfolio meet the criteria?" notes the graduate.

The story became known on social networks

Matvey's story spread on TikTok. In the comments under the post, many users supported the guy. Others, in addition, drew attention to the problem of transparency in the procedure for issuing recommendations to graduates of the National Children's Technopark.

The guy himself claims that he is ready to provide all documents confirming his words, including the Ministry of Education's response, scientific publications, project materials, and diplomas.

"It turns out that for one and the same project, the state system can encourage some participants, but show another the door, hiding behind a formal reply," his appeal states.

So far, the Ministry of Education has not provided an official response to the guy's appeal.

Не бядуй, Мацвей, калі ты сапраўды цягнуў праэкт, то і самастойна паступіш, а тым бэрэсэмаўцам, што распілавалі ўзнагароду замест цябе бяз блата ніяк не пралезці.
