According to the prosecutor's office, the man suffers from a mental disorder and is convinced that "demons" are persecuting him everywhere. On that day, he came to the church and behaved very aggressively, writes the "Belka" publication.

The priest, who along with the faithful was tidying up the church grounds, asked the man, who was swearing obscenely, to calm down. However, he suddenly attacked him — grabbed his beard and started hitting him. When the priest's assistant came to help, he also got beaten.
After this, the attacker fled, but police officers quickly found him.
It turned out that he had mental health problems before. He had already committed dangerous acts: he set fire to his wife's car because he believed there were demons in it, and also threw things out of the house, thinking that by doing so he was "cleansing" his home of evil spirits.
On the day of the incident, he also behaved inadequately — he took household items and clothing from the house, which he considered "infected," and then went to the church.
After his arrest, the man was placed in a psychiatric institution, where the presence of a disorder was confirmed. Despite this, he has been charged with particularly malicious hooliganism. The final decision on punishment will be made by the court.
