Dzmitry Yahorau, the former director of the Skidel Sugar Refinery, died in penal colony No. 1 in Novopolotsk. This was learned by "Flagstock" from one of the former prisoners.
Yahorau was sentenced in 2021 to 11 years of imprisonment for receiving a bribe in the so-called "sugar case." According to the source, the convict had oncology; he was sent to the republican prison hospital, but doctors could not save the man's life.
"He was not released even before death, knowing that he was dying. Because they don't release people with unpaid claims, although according to the law, terminally ill people can be released," the interlocutor noted.
According to him, the body of the deceased is planned to be taken from the colony on May 7.
