Today in Mogilev, the wind reached 30 m/s

Forecasters warned on April 23 of an orange alert level — and it happened. It even exceeded all expectations: wind up to 15-20 m/s was promised, but 29 m/s was recorded, reports the Mogilev Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The city of Mogilev itself, along with the Babruysk, Bykhaw, Bialynichy, Kirausk, Kruhlaye, Krychaw, Mogilev, Slaŭharad, Chavušy, and Shkloŭ districts, fell victim to the elements.

On April 23 alone, rescuers had 29 call-outs to clear fallen trees. They were torn out with their roots, some falling directly onto the roofs of cars and houses.

Slate and other roofing material were also torn off buildings.

No human casualties have been reported.
