Orbán announced that the meeting of his Fidesz party's presidium has concluded, where the political force decided to "fundamentally reform" the parliamentary faction, which will be formed on Monday. Its head will be Gergely

György, and Orbán himself plans to refuse the parliamentary mandate.

"The mandate I received as the leader of the 'Fidesz—Christian Democrats' list is actually a Fidesz parliamentary mandate, so I have decided to return it. I am not needed in parliament right now, but for the reorganization of the national movement," Orbán said.

He added that the party will hold a nationwide meeting next week, and the congress for electing leadership has been postponed until June.

"For almost four decades, I have led our community; during this time, we have experienced successes and failures, victories and defeats in elections. But one thing has remained constant: this camp has always been Hungary's most cohesive and united political community, and this unity is now very much needed in Hungary.

The presidium proposes that I continue my work as the chairman of Fidesz, and if the congress honors me with its trust, I am ready for this task," stated the almost former Prime Minister.
