A creative meeting with Russian writer Darya Dontsova was held at the Minsk International Book Exhibition-Fair. Dontsova visited the exhibition for the first time.
Dontsova's detective novels (she has managed to write over 280) are considered pulp fiction. But she remains a popular writer in Russia, with over 200 million copies of her books sold.
At the meeting, she noted that Belarusians did not ask her a single unpleasant question, writes sb.by.
“I know that now you have the Year of the Belarusian Woman. Well, I can't help but notice that as I drive down the street, I see that you have beautiful women. You don't see that in every city and country. And also delicious products. Yesterday I tasted Belarusian zephyr. And I must say, we don't have anything like it. I'll return home with extra kilograms,” the writer shared.
Dontsova is 73 years old, but she continues to write books — every day.
“I sit down at my desk from 6:00 AM, sometimes earlier, until 2:00 PM, depending on my schedule. I rest when I write, so I don't perceive writing as work. On Sundays, I go to church. On Tuesdays, I also give lectures to seminarians, then — lectures for cancer patients (Dontsova herself once had breast cancer. — NN). I believe that you can always find a place and time for a beloved pursuit. I come up with the plots myself, no AI!”
