Terminals for self-service obtaining of electronic digital signatures to appear in Belarus
Self-service terminals are being developed in Belarus, with the help of which citizens and business representatives will be able to independently obtain electronic digital signature (EDS) tools. The project is in its final development stage and is currently undergoing testing. This was announced on October 21 by Vladimir Basko, head of the Republican Certification Center of the National Center for Electronic Services, writes the "Minsk-Novosti" agency.

The terminals are intended for individuals, individual entrepreneurs, and heads of organizations. They will allow users to complete all necessary procedures without direct involvement of a registration point employee.
To obtain an electronic digital signature, the user will need to present the relevant document and undergo biometric identification. Special scanners will verify the authenticity of the document, its validity period, and other parameters. The system will also compare the owner's photo with data from the population register.
According to Vladimir Basko, identity verification will occur in several stages. First, the system will confirm that a living person is in front of the terminal, after which it will verify the document using special spectral analysis and queries to state information systems. Additional biometric identification will also be conducted during the creation of the personal key to ensure that the electronic signature is received by the very person who requested the service.
After successful verification, the system will generate a personal key on the appropriate medium and issue an open key certificate. As a result, the user will receive a medium with the electronic digital signature tool.
The development is planned to be presented on October 26-27 at the International Forum on Banking Information Technologies. After completing the tests, the terminals must undergo certification and necessary information security verification procedures. Then they are planned to be installed at service points throughout Belarus.
