Authorities Sold Confiscated Apartment of Hrodna Journalist and Human Rights Defender Uladzimir Khilmanovich
As many as nine bidders registered for the auction to purchase the illegally confiscated property; bids were raised 57 times.

On June 30, on the second attempt, authorities sold the apartment of journalist and human rights defender Uladzimir Khilmanovich, who was sentenced in absentia, at auction, writes "Hrodna Human Rights".
The starting price for the two-room apartment was 100,800 rubles. As a result of the auction (bids were raised 57 times), it was sold for 136,584 rubles.
Earlier, the authorities had already sold all the family's household appliances, as well as the human rights defender's dacha in the Masty district.
On August 19, 2024, the Hrodna Regional Court sentenced Khilmanovich in absentia to 5 years of imprisonment in a correctional colony under enhanced regime conditions and a huge fine of 40,000 rubles.
On October 25 of the same year, the Supreme Court predictably did not satisfy the appeal filed by the publicist and human rights defender. After which, the verdict entered into force.
