A new way to use couriers: picking up shoe boxes at the post office
The capital's police detained a 21-year-old Minsk resident who fell victim to a new telephone scam scheme.

The young man received a letter supposedly from "Belpochta" (Belarusian Post) and gave the attackers a code from an SMS. After this, he received a call via messenger from people who introduced themselves as law enforcement officers, informing him that he was suspected of "dropping", reports "Minsk Police".
Dropping (or dropper activities) is participation in a crime where a person (a dropper) is used as an intermediary to withdraw or cash out stolen money.
To avoid criminal liability, he was ordered to carry out "secret tasks".
First, the young man transferred over 20 thousand rubles, obtained through a loan and borrowed from his grandmother and an unfamiliar pensioner, to the fraudsters' crypto wallet.
Then, following instructions from handlers, he received at least six packages with shoes at a "Belpochta" branch.
Hidden inside were the funds of deceived Belarusians who thought they were declaring their savings. In this way, he received about 80 thousand rubles, which he also transferred to the fraudsters' crypto wallet.
