A1 operator to be penalized for forced transfer of users to a more expensive tariff
The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade and found mobile operator A1 guilty of abusing its market position.
The story began last summer when the company closed the popular "Bez Limit" and "Bez Limit 2.0" tariffs from June 1, 2025, and forcibly transferred users to the more expensive "Drive Unlim" tariff.
The antimonopoly agency considered such actions an illegal imposition of services, with which A1 disagreed and tried to appeal the verdict in the highest court.
However, the judicial panel for economic affairs sided with MARТ (Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade) and rejected the operator's appeal. Now, A1 faces a gigantic fine, which can amount to up to ten percent of the company's annual revenue in this market.
The mobile operator still has the option to file an appeal.
