The most attention was drawn by the British monarch's ironic remark about "French language," reports the BBC.
In his speech, Charles III reacted to Trump's common assertion about the USA's role in world history.
"You recently pointed out that if it were not for the United States, European countries would be speaking German," the King said, then added with a smile: "I dare say that if it were not for us, you would be speaking French…!"
Charles III did not limit himself to this. He also recalled the burning of the White House in 1814 during the War of 1812, joking that it was a "British attempt at reconstruction" of the US president's residence.
Trump also did not stay silent and began his speech with a compliment to the monarch regarding his address to Congress, adding a joke: "You made the Democrats stand up — I could never have done that."
