Merz: The US has no strategy in the war against Iran, and Iran acts skillfully
German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that the US currently does not have a clear plan on how to end the war against Iran and achieve peace, writes Deutsche Welle.

According to Friedrich Merz, the Americans themselves have not decided what solution they will seek for the situation.
“At this moment, I do not understand what strategic way out the Americans will choose, especially since the Iranians are evidently very skillfully conducting negotiations — or rather, very deftly avoiding negotiations,” he stated on April 27, at a meeting with gymnasium students in Marsberg, western Germany.
Merz said that the main difficulty of any war is not its beginning, but its end. As an example, he cited the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Therefore, in his opinion, the decision to start military actions against Iran was not sufficiently thought out.
He expressed hope that the conflict would end soon, but does not believe this is possible in the near future. According to him, Iran was stronger than many expected, and the US has no convincing strategy for negotiations.
Merz also noted that the US and Israel started the war without prior consultations with European allies. He stated that he had already twice expressed his critical position to US President Donald Trump. Moreover, he assured that if he had known the conflict would drag on for at least several weeks and the situation would worsen, he would have expressed himself even more emphatically.
