EU Ambassadors Approved a Loan to Ukraine of 90 Billion Euros and the 20th Package of Sanctions Against Russia
European Union countries have reached an agreement on two strategic issues that had long remained blocked. As reported by Rikard Jozwiak, Europe editor at Radio Svaboda, diplomats gave the green light to allocating a loan of 90 billion euros to Ukraine and approved the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
The breakthrough in negotiations occurred after the resolution of an energy conflict. Previously, Hungary and Slovakia had blocked these initiatives, linking their position to the suspension of oil transit via the "Druzhba" pipeline. Fuel supplies stopped due to damage to a section of the main pipeline on Ukrainian territory as a result of a Russian strike.
On April 21, the Ukrainian side announced the successful completion of repairs. Oil pumping resumed today, and the first supplies to Slovakia and Hungary are expected on April 23.
