18-year-old footballer dies at school stadium in Minsk

The tragic incident occurred on the premises of Gymnasium No. 14.

The renovated stadium of the capital's Gymnasium No. 14 was officially opened in 2024 — a football field with artificial turf was installed there.

On the evening of April 23, young men gathered here to play football — students of BSEU and simply teenagers from different parts of the city. During the game, one of the players suddenly felt unwell; he simply collapsed on the field.

Medics resuscitated the young man for more than 30 minutes, but, unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful. Death was pronounced at 20:55. According to eyewitnesses, doctors spoke of a heart rhythm disturbance. The young man himself had complained to friends about back pain.

Friends say the young man was 18 years old, led a healthy lifestyle, and played sports. He was a first-year student at BSEU.
