A London court sentenced singer Chris Brown to eight months suspended for an assault in a club in 2023. The American singer will have to spend eight months in prison if he breaks the law again within a year, a judge in London ruled, writes BBC.
Chris Brown pleaded guilty to one of the charges brought against him — hooliganism — this July, after which the prosecution dropped more serious charges, including causing grievous bodily harm. His vocal coach Omololu Akinlolou also pleaded guilty with him. The judge sentenced him to four months of imprisonment (also deferred for a year).
In February 2023, Brown repeatedly hit music producer Abraham Diyaou with a bottle in a London club. After this, Akinlolou also hit Diyaou several times. The prosecution called the attack "violent and unprovoked." The producer required hospitalization.
Chris Brown is one of the most successful artists in the R&B genre. His most popular music video on YouTube has 872 million views.
In 2009, he was sentenced to five years probation for assaulting his ex-girlfriend — singer Rihanna. In 2013, Brown admitted to hitting a fan who asked to take a photo with him.
