The estate in Ushachy district was taken from its former owners and is now being sold again for next to nothing
The previous owner failed to do anything with the historic Grabnitsky estate, built in the 19th century.
The manor house in Arekhovna is again up for sale, according to "Vitebsk Regional Property".
The estate was built in the 1840s by representatives of the Grabnitsky family in the late Classicism style. Its last owners before the revolution were the sons of the famous botanist Adam Grabnitsky-Daktarovich.
The entrance to the estate was adorned with a linden alley, a sundial, and a picturesque park with sculptures. The Grabnitsky estate housed a linen factory, a steam mill, a brewery, a forge, and a stud farm. In 1917, the owners were forced to leave the estate, and the house and outbuildings were looted.
In 1943-1944, the manor house hosted a hospital for the 2nd Ushachy partisan brigade named after Ponomarenko, and after the war — a school. In 1998, the building on the shore of Lake Arekhovna became empty again and quickly fell into disrepair: everything was taken from it, down to the radiators and window frames.
Since 2014, attempts to sell the historical and cultural value for several tens of thousands of euros were unsuccessful. In July 2020, the Grabnitsky estate was finally bought for just 28.35 rubles by the private enterprise "Azyory-Agro", registered in Minsk, which is engaged in agriculture and specializes in crop production.
The plans included restoring the building's original interiors, collecting artifacts for a museum, and arranging a cafe for guests of the complex, but the plans could not be realized.
In 2021, the Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments appealed to the General Prosecutor's Office, because construction, assembly, and land works on the estate in Arekhovna were carried out without approved scientific and project documentation and without an approved protection zone project, which is a violation of the law.
The main condition of auctions for the sale of historical and cultural values is that the new owner must carry out repair and restoration work within a few years. In the summer of 2024, the allotted four-year period expired, and the estate had not even come close to being restored.
The Grabnitsky estate returned to state ownership. It is again offered for sale for one basic unit — now 40 rubles. At the same time, "Vitebsk Regional Property" estimates the market value of the property at 301,000 rubles. The assessment was carried out in early spring.
According to the terms of sale, the buyer will have to restore the estate within three years.
