The US Department of the Treasury issued a temporary general license, allowing the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the global market. The authorization was issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) following an order from US President Donald Trump.

Sanctions against Russian fuel have been suspended until April 7, 2027.
On October 9, Trump held a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin and stated that the US and Russia agreed on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the American and global markets.
According to Trump, Russia will immediately supply 300 thousand tons of fuel, another 500 thousand tons in November, and then another million tons. In addition, Russia is expected to supply another three million tons of diesel fuel in the near future.
