The ginger cat that became a museum mascot in Vitebsk now greets visitors with kittens PHOTOS
Three months ago, Belarusian media reported about a homeless cat that was attracting residents of Vitebsk to the local Museum of Modern Art. Now, this story has a continuation, writes Times.by.

Nina Babrovich, head of the Museum of Modern Art, previously told the story of how this cat ended up in the museum.
"We noticed the ginger kitten on July 14: it was running unattended on the lawns near the museum building and meowing pitifully, but it was shy and wouldn't let us touch it. We started feeding the little one and slowly tamed it. We named it Marcel — after the legendary French mime Marceau. Then our fluffy wonder grew up — and it turned out to be a wonderful lady. But we didn't rename her."

Marcel can be called a full-fledged employee of the museum. She greets guests at the reception — where she has a special mat — and then accompanies guided tours.
"She lives in the hall where the paintings of avant-garde artist Alexander Solovyov are displayed," adds the interviewee. "We joke that it's not surprising: she chose apartments that match the color of her fur. In the master's canvases, there are many rich ginger and red hues that perfectly complement our Marcel's bright fur."

And on April 1, the fluffy employee gave birth to four kittens — two ginger and two black. They have already grown up and now greet guests alongside their mother.

"They have a special enclosure with a fence, from which they cannot run in different directions," clarifies Nina Babrovich. "But sometimes we let them out onto a small podium, where they stroll to the delight and admiration of visitors."

All the little ones have already found future owners — museum staff have "reserved" pets for themselves, but until the kittens are two months old, they will stay with their mother under her fluffy side.

"Perhaps one of the little ones will stay — to continue the dynasty of museum keepers," says the interviewee. "We are considering such an option if mice suddenly decide to encroach on art. Marcel alone won't have enough strength for three floors plus the basement."

So far, there have been no rodent attacks, and the ginger cat's largest prey consists of beetles and spiders. Therefore, Marcel's main role is that of a universal darling, not an exhibit security guard.

You can see the entire cat family for at least another month.
