Minsktrans explained why public transport in the capital still cannot be paid for with a bank card
For several years, there has been talk in Minsk about the need to introduce bank card payments for public transport, but so far this system is not working. Why is its launch stalling?

The general director of the enterprise, Kanstantsin Halalabau, said on ONT TV that their own payment system has been developed for the capital. It will work both online and offline.
Both payment methods have drawbacks. If the payment goes through online instantly, the passenger will not be able to pay if the connection is lost. If the debiting of money is postponed until the connection is restored, it may turn out that there is not enough money on the card, it is blocked, or its validity period has expired.
Therefore, Minsk decided to combine both options. According to Halalabau, such a scheme turned out to be complex.
The system was tested on bus and trolleybus routes № 1. Based on the results of these tests, the equipment needed for its operation was determined. "When the equipment is purchased, the system will start working, and it will work not only in Minsk," Halalabau stated.
