Lina Hesse and Ihar Yukhnevich became the laureates of the M. Anempadystau Award for the best book cover of 2025. They were awarded for the design of the book "Unemployed Tree" by Sveta Ben and Lina Hesse, published by "Myane Nyama" publishing house in 2025, reports Belarusian PEN.

The award ceremony took place on October 24 in Warsaw. The jury noted the work "for a masterful interplay between craft and pop art, for childlike openness, for adult symbolism."
According to jury member Nadzeya Zelyankova, the winning book significantly outpaced other works. She noted that children's books rarely even make it to the shortlists of similar competitions, but in this case, the design solution immediately won the recognition of the jury.

This year, the shortlist for the award included eight works that demonstrated the diversity of artistic approaches to book design.
The ceremony was held at REDAKCJA BAR in Warsaw and gathered representatives of the Belarusian cultural and book community. The program included the exhibition "Eight Covers as Eight Stories", the presentation of the publication "Form of Presence", dedicated to Belarusian book covers, and a discussion about the cover as a visual image of a book. After the official part, there was a musical set by Papa Bo Selektah and informal conversations among the participants.
The M. Anempadystau Award was established in 2019. It recognizes the best design solutions in book cover design and promotes the development of the visual culture of Belarusian books. Its organizers are Belarusian PEN and the Open Culture Foundation.
Among previous laureates are Ryhor Katsnelson for the cover of the book "Vilenski Poker", Alena Dashkevich for the publication "Simple Words. Mihal Anempadystau", Anatol Lazar for the book "(Un)shot", Yana Halushkina and the digital archive VEHA for "People of the Forest / Ludzi Lesu", Sviatlana Dzemidovich and Lukash Lyavandouski for "Nearby", as well as Masha Maroz and Ihar Yukhnevich for the book "My Grandma is the Morgue Director".
